Canadian Cohousing Network

The Canadian Cohousing Network helps to expand and promote Cohousing in Canada. They list multiple different Cohousing communities across Canada in all stages of development from forming all the way to complete. They also host various resources meant to help forming communities and individuals interested in Cohousing, including a listing site for available units in formed in communities.

Creating Cohousing (Durrett, McCamant)

Creating Cohousing is the foremost introductory book to the concept of Cohousing. Written by architect duo Charles Durrett and Kathryn McCamant, it follows their learnings from their 1990s research into Cohousing in Denmark. Updated for 2011, the book feature multiple communities throughout Canada, United States and Denmark. The book gives readers and those curious a glimpse into the benefits, surprises and struggles that occur when forming or living in Cohousing communities.

Community Led Housing (Matthew, Critchlow)

Community Led Housing is the latest book by Ronaye Matthew and Margaret Critchlow that provides invaluable information on the development of Cohousing Communities. Based primarily on Ronaye’s extensive work on getting near a dozen Canadian Cohousing communities to completion, she provides a step-by-step guide that lays out all the important information critical to forming and completing Cohousing communities. Described by many in various Canadian Cohousing communities as an essential read for anyone or any group interest in Cohousing.
